To combat climate change and create a more equitable community by planting trees in neighborhoods that don’t have as many, become a Friends of Trees crew leader. Make a lasting, positive change in a fun and physical(ly-distanced) way, while occasionally getting muddy and wet. What’s not to love?
As a planting crew leader for the Neighborhood Trees Program, you’ll plant large-stock (6-10 ft. tall) trees at homes in and around the Portland-Vancouver metro region. Trees may be planted in a home’s yard and/or in the property’s right-of-way (the space between the home and the street). You’ll be planting in the neighborhood with one other trained crew leader or staff member. Read more about Friends of Trees’ COVID-19 safety measures at friendsoftrees.org/volunteer-faq/.
Register for the next virtual training, Oct. 17-24, at friendsoftrees.org/volunteer/how-to-volunteer/crew-leader/. Following the training, volunteers will be asked to commit to four planting events on Saturday or Wednesday mornings, October through April.
