Green Business of the Month - Waste Connections!

Green Business of the Month - Waste Connections!

Waste Connections of Washington provides collection service for garbage, recycling and yard debris in Clark County. If your business throws away garbage or if you live in Clark County, there is a good chance you've seen one of their trucks. When they're not on the road, the truck fleet is based at an operations and maintenance site here in Clark County, and Waste Connections also has an administrative office at the East Ridge Business Park. Both locations are Green Business certified.

Waste Connections has experienced environmental success by making changes to their operations and promoting sustainable behavior among employees. In 2013, Waste Connections purchased 3 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and installed a fueling station with the capacity for 12 trucks. Currently, they have 8 CNG trucks on the road. By switching from diesel, they have lowered their air emissions and significantly reduced operating costs.

The green team at Waste Connections has worked hard and found some innovative ways to reduce waste at their East Ridge office. Have you ever been in an office break room with washable towels instead of paper towels? Waste Connections took advantage of a towel rental service offered by Unifirst. Now instead of grabbing a paper towel, employees can reach for a reusable towel from the clean bin, and when they're done using it, drop it in the dirty bin. They also reduce waste for company events by requesting that catering companies not bring disposable dishware and utensils. Above and beyond basic recycling, food waste is composted, and Waste Connections also collects film plastic, batteries, and compact fluorescent lights for recycling.Enter your text here ...
