World Elephant Day at the Zoo

Sunday, August 12, 2018, 10:00am - 03:00pm

Celebrate World Elephant Day with a day at the zoo featuring elephant ears (the wearable kind) and elephant ears (the edible kind)! Festivities will also include hourly keeper talks and an elephant family pool party. Elephant related activites around the zoo will tach you about this great species and the threats it faces in the wild.

Spend time with the six Asian elephants who live in the Elephant Lands, an award-winning, bond-funded habitat that opened in 2015! Asian elephants live in some of the most densely human-populated regions of the world, which puts them in frequent and sometimes deadly conflicts with people. Logging and poaching and other activities are having a significan toll on elephant populations.

Free with zoo admission.
