Don't Trash It - Recycle It! Holiday Tree Recycling Made Easy

christmas-tree-3860669_1280
This holiday season Clark County is dedicated to educating residents on holiday waste reduction for a happier holiday and a healthier planet. While there are many resources available for consumers to properly dispose of their Christmas trees, year after year we find an unfortunate amount of trees that still make their way to the landfill. In 2017 alone, United States residents purchased 27.4 million real Christmas trees. Out of that 27.4 million, every Christmas tree that was not properly disposed of and therefore sent to the landfill increased our carbon footprint by nearly 16kg. Keep your Christmas trees out of the landfill this year by choosing one of these following options to recycle your tree this year:

If you are a Yard Debris Customer:

  • Small trees are accepted in yard debris cart for FREE
  • Single tree in sections of 5ft or less can be left next to any empty yard debris cart for FREE
  • Single tree in sections of 5ft or less can be left next to a full yard debris cart, but and an EXTRA FEE will be charged

If you are a Non-Yard Debris customer:

  • Single tree in sections of 5ft or less next to garbage cart for an EXTRA FEE (trees will be sent to landfill)
  • Recycle trees for $5 or less at one of the tree drop-off locations.

Note: These suggestions are for real trees only. All trees, before being put out or dropped-off must have all non-tree materials removed. This includes items such as tinsel, wire, lights, or ornaments. In addition, flocked trees are not accepted as recycle and must be thrown out as garbage.
