Mighty Bowl's business values reflect Steve's personal values to take care of the people around him and the earth. As a new business owner, Steve started with lofty environmental goals, including operating as a zero waste business. After hitting some major obstacles to completely eliminating waste, he adjusted his views and focused on making incremental changes toward being more sustainable. In addition to recycling bottles, cans, and paper, Mighty Bowl also recycles plastic film and compost food scraps. Thanks to their recycling and composting efforts, they only have one garbage roll-cart! To minimize waste, upcoming plans for Mighty Bowl's sit-down restaurant include using durable dishware.
Mighty Bowl pays attention to their carbon footprint too. Many of Mighty Bowl's 13 employees walk or bike to work. Steve is updating all the light bulbs throughout their brick and mortar location to energy-efficient LEDs, and he is hoping to install solar panels on the roof.
Mighty Bowl is happy to call Vancouver home and be part of a group of like-minded businesses that fosters a sense of community. Check out their schedule (www.themightybowl.com) to find out where and when Mighty Bowl is serving up their menu of healthy bowls, salads and smoothies.
