Hello , Thank you to everyone who joined us last weekend to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Green Neighbors Program! We all learned about native bats courtesy of Backyard Bird Shop in Vancouver. Many attendees made a pledge to support bats by choosing to reduce pesticide use because it is dangerous to bats and other pollinators; respect bats and humanely remove them if found indoors; or share an affinity of bats with others to help dispel myths.

Come and meet Clark County Composter Recyclers at the Washougal Pumpkin Harvest Festival 12-3 pm, Saturday, Oct. 15 at Hathaway Park!

Have confidential papers to shred? Visit the Knights of Columbus' Shred Event 10 am - 1 pm, Saturday Oct. 15 at 215 W 12th St, Vancouver.

The Fall Composter Recycler Workshops are underway! Held online at 7-8 pm on Wednesdays through mid-November, there is still time to register! Learn about various methods of composting at home as well as food too good to waste, green cleaning and low waste living.

HEALTHY FAMILIES: sewage system maintenance & repairs

Several financial assistance programs are available to help Clark County residents cover the costs of onsite sewage system maintenance, repairs, and replacement.

Clark County Community Services’ Housing Preservation Program assists with deferred, low-interest, flexible loans for onsite sewage system repair and maintenance. Over the past 15 years, the program has funded 48 septic repair or replacement projects totaling nearly $640,000, with an average loan amount of about $13,000.

Poop Smart Clark, a new local program, reimburses up to $130 for inspection costs and $500 for pumping and repairs, and now up to $20,000 for a limited number of full septic system replacements or major repairs. Assistance is available for property owners in specific watersheds of the East Fork Lewis River.
