On the Road Tour-Cultivating Your Garden

From June 18, 2025 8:15 am until June 18, 2025 4:00 pm
Categories: Workshops
Join the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program for an On the Road Tour and leave the driving to us. We’ll begin at The Grotto to experience the comfort & peace that meditative gardens can bring on a self-guided tour of the grounds. This serene woodland sanctuary in Northeast Portland features 62 acres of botanical gardens. Next, we will visit a 100-year-old institution - Portland Nursery -for a presentation on companion/succession planting. They are committed to providing the most diverse selection of high-quality plants and to sharing their expert horticultural knowledge. They believe anyone can achieve their gardening dreams given the right tools and guidance.
Lunch is on your own at The Yard at Montavilla (food cart pod). Last stop is Tony’s Garden’s Center where we will meet for an informative talk on vegetables, including cool weather crops and perennials. Tony’s is a one-stop garden shop with an unbeatable selection of... everything! Their fresh and healthy plants are locally grown in their family-owned greenhouses, and they will share the process with us. The Grotto has ramps and some stairs to access the elevator to tour the upper level. There is quite a bit of walking involved. Dress for weather. Bring a walking stick if necessary.. Vans depart from Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Hazel Dell (Vancouver), WA.
Cost: $35 (Bring $8 for entry to the Grotto). Advance registration required at https://m.bpt.me/event/6649353.Contacterika.d.johnson@wsu.edu or(564) 397-5738. For more info about workshops: http://extension.wsu.edu/clark/gardening/workshops-events/.
