Green Neighbors Program
The Clark County Green Neighbors Program is coordinated by Clark County Public Health’s Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach to assist citizens with developing more sustainable lifestyles and building a strong environmental community in Clark County. Solid waste regional planning and programs are a cooperative effort of Battle Ground, Camas, Clark County, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Yacolt.

You can have a garden that is both beautiful and a safe haven for pets. Dogs can be destructive to a delicate garden. Our dog-friendly demonstration garden contains 'petscaping' ideas to help you choose nontoxic, durable plants that will keep your pet safe and hold up to the most energetic dog!

We encourage the use of native, zone-appropriate, and disease-resistant landscape plants because they are adapted to our climate and soil conditions. Native plants are particularly good choices because they so perfectly support the insects that are an essential element of the ecosystem. 2023 Recap
Garden hosts and Master Gardener volunteers welcomed over 2,700 vistors on Sunday, July 16, at eight gardens in Clark County! Participants admired a variety of native and non-native plants and learned about pesticides reduction, composting, lawn alternatives, and many other techniques that help us live in harmony with nature.
Why Garden Naturally?
Common synthetic chemicals kill many insects beneficial to the health of your garden and they compromise the garden’s ability to fight pests. By learning natural gardening techniques, you can minimize the use of chemicals to control diseases and pests. By reducing or removing these chemicals from our management practices, we help to keep a healthy environment for pets and children, while also protecting local wildlife and water sources.
