Green Business Spotlight: Niche Wine Bar
In 2013, Niche Wine Bar became one of the first certified Green Businesses in downtown Vancouver. From the very beginning Leah Jackson, owner of Niche, has modeled green business principles and made every effort to incorporate thoughtful elements into her business that minimize the wine bar's environmental footprint.
Take-out and dine-in options currently include small plates, sandwiches
A customer may not even notice the small details and elements that make Niche an environmentally responsible business. Repurposed furniture enhances the atmosphere and proves that reuse can be cool, and a carefully curated menu ensures that very little waste goes to the landfill. Recycling is a given, and occasionally even corks are collected for reuse. Increased energy efficiency was achieved by switching to LED lighting.
Like many restaurants and bars, Niche Wine Bar made changes this year due to COVID-19 and now has some new processes and business hours in place. Reservations for indoor seating are available for parties when everyone is from the same household, and outdoor seating is available for all parties.
Despite current challenges, Niche Wine Bar has plenty to celebrate. Niche participates in Vancouver's First Friday art walk and features a unique art gallery to showcase local artists.
