Rescue good eats with Too Good To Go app

Here at Green Neighbors, it's no secret that preventing food waste is a top priority for us. We encourage everyone to eat their food before it goes to waste by getting creative with leftovers, buying only what's needed from the store, and implementing proper food storage techniques to extend the shelf life of perishables.

Download the Too Good To Go app to check out offerings in your area!

Now there is another awesome way to help keep good food from going bad – using an app to locate surplus food at a discounted price!

The Too Good To Go app is a community of waste warriors fighting food waste together. Their app connects customers to restaurants and grocery stores that have surplus meals and ingredients. Businesses are looking to sell food in a hurry, so the retail price is significantly discounted.

When using the app, you can search for different offerings based on location and type of food. If there's a place you especially like, you can "favorite" it for easy lookup. The "Me" section, tracks how much carbon dioxide emissions and money you've saved by preventing food from going to waste.

Green Neighbors team member Henry Canafax tried it out to see what it was like. Valued at $12, Henry picked up 18 donuts for only $3.99 from Coco Donuts in downtown Portland. They were delicious!

Founded in 2016 in Copenhagen and now in 17 countries, Too Good To Go saves more than 250,000 meals every day. They see this as a win-win-win solution where consumers get great food, store owners no longer throw away delicious surplus, and together they help the planet by reducing waste.
